Pete & The Pirates - 'Cold Black Kitty'

For the moment I have awarded this piece of work FIVE stars in my library. Though it will inevitably get reduced when I come back to it in a few months and wonder whatthefuckwasIthinking.
They sound a bit like Belle & Sebastian slept with someone a lot more interesting and produced a fetus named Pete.

Arctic Monkeys - 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala'

Alex Turner is a lyrical genius. However my view was a little obscured when I heard the lyrics 'I took the batteries out my Mr. Sizzle and put them in my thinking cap'. Naturally I assumed a 'Mr. Sizzle' was some form of dildo. I therefore looked into the matter, finding out the lyric 'Mr. Sizzle' was in fact 'mysticism'. How embarrassing for me... The Sound of the Moment - Wye Oak 'Civilian'

It doesn't sound like anyone so we can't have any witty banter. All I know is the band formed in 2006, but I'd never heard of them until the other day. Sotheyformedtheotherday.

The Strokes - Angles

It's The Strokes. It's outstanding. EverythingCasablancasdoesis.

The Sound of the Moment - Yaaks 'HRHRHYTHM'

Hello potential ★★★★-er. This piece of music is very Foals like, though obviously not as good. It does however have one of those chorus hooks where you have no idea what he's saying. All I can make out is something like 'her eyes in my ear'. A bit like in 'Hey Cool Kid' by Cloud Nothings. Whatthefuckishesaying.com

The Sound of the Moment - Benjamin Francis Leftwich

It's quite nice. The EP is rather polished in a Good Old War sort of way. He sounds like Isbells and S. Carey died, were buried, and then Justin Vernon took a shit on their grave. BecausejustJustinVernon'sshitisbetterthananythinghe'lleverdo.

The Sound of the Moment - The Kissaway Trail '61'

So I 'purchased' The Kissaway Trail's album not long ago in belief that is was their only. It's not. It's their second. And it's shit. So I 'purchased' their first. It's better. '61' is almost very good. They sound like Arcade Fire had bumfun with Shout Out Louds and somehow produced a child similar to Shout Out Louds but much, much, much shitter than Arcade Fire. Maybe I should change the blog description to 'where only some outstanding music is found'.

The Sound of the Moment

This Sound of the Moment has been awarded ★★★★★'s in my iTunes library, IT'S THAT GOOD.
It sounds like Crystal Castles with Robert Smith singing instead of Alice. That'sbecauseitis.

The Sound of the Moment - The Vaccines 'Post Break-Up Sex'

As usual The Vaccines have released another single which is excruciatingly good. Is it possible for them to release anything bad? NO. For all the people who say 'I don't really see what all the fuss is about...' fuckyouthey'reamazingtheonlyreasonyoudon'tlikethemisbecasuethey'rebeingfussedabout.

Right... Time for another Sound of the Moment.

'Come Home' by Chappo. I can't quite put my finger on who it sounds like... I think it's Band of Horses smoked some Salvia Divinorum and then had a one night stand with 'Vertigo' by U2.
I was disappointed to find that the rest of the songs on the EP were the opposite of good. I've yet to decide a rating for 'Come Home', calling it 'very good' sounds wrong. Maybe I should download the iTunes script that enables me to give half stars...

Fuck it, I'll do a Band of the Week this week...

The Band of the Week is The Strokes. Idon'tcarethatthiermostrecentalbumcameout5yearsagothey'refuckingamazing.

The Sound of the Moment - Avi Buffalo 'What's In It For?'

This piece gets a rating of ★★★★ in my iTunes library. The lyrics are just lovely. One particular line did it for me; 'You are tiny and your lips are like little pieces of bacon'. Isn't that just lovely. His voice is also lovely. I think lovely is definitely the best way to describe it. The only thing I have against the song is that it's just a tad too long. A bit like Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. It just doesn't need to be five and a half minutes. It's all in the first three. The Byrds managed to do it in two thirty. Avi Buffalo should have done this.

The Sound of the Moment

Death to Band of the Week. I have only posted one post about Band of the Week and I already cannot take the pressure of thinking I will have to write one every week and have found an incredible band to write about. Bands that really are amazing are very rare. The ones that have albums that every single song is outstanding... You might find a handful a year. However, single songs that are outstanding or very good are pretty frequent. I will therefore post a 'Sound of the Moment' post wheneverthefuckIfeellikeit. It might be a song, it might be an album, it might be a band. It will be whateverthefuckIwantittobe.

Band of the Week

Usually Band of the Week will probably be on a Sunday, but as the blog has only just started I don't care that it's a Thursday. Let's just pretend it's Sunday. That way I can be listening to The Vaccines new single that comes out then. Everyone probably dislikes them now anyway because they have been ruined by the media. I'm probably ruining them a bit more by talking about them now... But they are amazing. Which is why they get a mention in the blog. Nevertheless they aren't the Band of the Week. Maybe they will be next week when the single is out. The Band of the Week for me are Freelance Whales. I don't care that their album came out last year, I only just discovered them. Having said that, the band as a whole only just make it above mediocrity. So it's more of a Song of the Week... 'Generator ^ First Floor'. They sound a bit like Noah and the Whale had sex with Owl City, gave birth to a band who grew up to marry Death Cab for Cutie but committed adultery with Mumford & Sons.

In the Beginning...

This blog is about music that is amazing. There are many blogs already that share new music discoveries and new music, but what's different about this one is that you will only find music that is amazing.
